Idyllwild Nature Center offers field study trips, environmental education programs and guided tours by appointment. Programs focus on mountain ecology, habitats, flora and fauna, Cahuilla Native culture and the history of the San Jacinto Mountains. Each program can be tailored to fit your specific needs or interests. Nature walks and natural history lectures are offered during the summer. Every Saturday June through August the center offers Junior Naturalist Programs. This children’s program includes a forest nature walk, snacks, and work books.

The Desert Sun Science Center is the home of Astrocamp, a physical and earth sciences program with an emphasis on astronomy and the exploration of the universe. Students in grades 4 through 12 learn about the mysteries of the heavens through hands-on experiments and study. Kids also have access to a variety of high-powered telescopes, video telescopes and giant binoculars. Students are bused in with chaperones from both private and public schools.
